Midnight Blue and Gold Fall Decor

Instead of relying on tradition for colors with which to decorate, branch out from the usual fall color palette, and select colors that coordinate with your home's everyday colors. Not only does all of the decor harmonize, a fresh color palette of midnight blue and gold creates an upscale decor for fall and Halloween. 

Midnight blue instead of black and gold instead of orange are perfect substitutions for traditional fall colors. Subtle touches with pumpkins, chrysanthemums, birds, feathers, and Halloween message signs add items distinctive for the season. There is no mistaking fall and Halloween are in the air, just not in the expected colors. 

Instead of black crows, how about midnight blue birds with gold crowns and white feathers stamped with gold French script? Just a slight shift on the color wheel from black, midnight blue works to give the dark tones of Halloween, but coordinates with blues found in my home and garden shed.

Midnight blue dishes with gold rims coordinate with the new white shelves supported by gold brackets and coordinate with the blue lower cabinets in the garden shed. 

No new blue dishes or accent pieces, just beautiful blues I live with everyday in my home and a few items for sale in my small Christmas event each December in the garden shed. 

There are a couple of new white pumpkins and a white chrysanthemum plant to celebrate fall.  

Things That Go Bump In The Night 

Every decorating arrangement deserves an eye-catching centerpiece. A repurposed dark blue glass ice bucket holds a live white orchid plant. Take away the Halloween sign, and the arrangement works any day of the year. 

Renaissance Blue china from Fitz and Floyd looks like fall and Halloween with a white pumpkin, a midnight blue bird, and white chrysanthemums. Yet, the dishes are versatile enough to look like Christmas when paired with angel salad plates on the Christmas Angel Table a few years ago. 

A little Midnight Blue spray paint changed a solid gold bird into a dark Halloween bird that echoes the blue and gold colors of the china. 

Touches of gold reflect the traditional yellow colors of fall. The gold bird is how the midnight blue bird looked before being painted. 

More dark blue on the opposite end of the open shelves includes dark blue feathers from a Paris ribbon and sundries shop. 

Freshly-cut rosemary stems stand in a dark blue Christmas votive holder with a fleur de lis design. More French Country style are the French wire basket with towels, short white flower pot with the French medallion design, and the antique French script ledger behind the white scroll enamel flatware. 

The flower pot and white scroll flatware are two favorites used all during the year for every season. 

Another white pumpkin with a twisted stem and a stack of Halloween wood message boards are the last items added for fall and Halloween on the open shelves area.
