A tour of our French country Christmas living room includes views of a massive white stone fireplace and a two-story Palladian window. The tour starts with the Christmas color scheme in the living room which began with a jewel-tone Christmas stocking and coordinating throw pillow.
Jewel-tone needlepoint Christmas stockings and a matching throw pillow set this year's color for Christmas decor in our French country inspired living room. The stockings and pillow came from my sister's shop in Maine more than twenty years ago.
When I bought a purple pillow cover from our new local Pottery Barn outlet this summer, I knew it would go with the needlepoint pillow and stockings. That's when I began planning this year's Christmas decor.

When you enter our house through the front door this is the view of the living room from the dining section of the living room. The vintage church pew backs up to the sofa and serves as wonderful extra seating for the dining table.
As you step around the church pew, you can see the sofa and where the pillows usually are at the end of the sofa.
You also have your first views of the massive white Austin stone fireplace.
Extra seating for the book club meeting earlier this week are the former dining chairs for the French country breakfast table in the sunspace. I replaced these upholstered chairs with wood-carved French-style chairs a couple of summers ago.
Normally the fireplace does not have chairs in front of the firebox, but when a large group like the book club gathers, there is enough room in front of the fireplace to add chairs.
Cross-stitched angels in jewel tones are on the pine side tables at each end of the fireplace. My sister and I cross-stitched the two framed angels more than twenty years ago.
Across from the fireplace is a two-story Palladian window, framed by the posts and beams of our country house. The large windows offer views of native oak and cedar trees during the day and offer views of a rising moon at night.
The French chair sometimes sits beside the windows and sometimes sits beside the fireplace.
A fresh-cut Christmas tree fits beside the chair in front of the windows this year. When the Christmas tree has a larger diameter at the base, we slide the pine armoire in front of the window and place the tree in the corner where the armoire normally sits.
This year's tree is about eight feet tall with a beautiful shape that fooled some visitors into thinking it was an artificial tree. On top is a white bisque Lenox angel, a Christmas present from many years ago. Several ornaments are also angels collected over the years.
The length of the living room portion of this room is twenty feet, but looks shorter due to the camera lens settings.
Poinsettias are one of my favorite flowers to use for Christmas decorations. The blooms last for several weeks, often into February.
Blue wrapped boxes and bags moved from the pine chest at the end of the fireplace to the foot of the Christmas tree.
