Think beyond your usual Spring and Easter centerpieces for your family gatherings and egg hunt parties. Think one large centerpiece instead of several small objects scattered throughout your house.
As large as this Spring centerpiece is, there is still room on the kitchen island both for preparing meals and then, for serving meals buffet style. There is space on all sides of the white pedestal urn for several serving bowls of food.

The white rabbit botanical centerpiece is one of the first things to catch your eye as you enter our kitchen from the entryway. Outside the sunspace windows a large blooming pear tree is the next thing to catch your attention.
One drawback to large containers is finding a place to store them when not in use. As a result, most people do not have supersize dinnerware serving pieces that can be used for giant arrangements.
Think about your outdoor flower urns for indoor arrangements. Look at flower pots with a critical eye for new ways to use them. Bring them in, clean them up, sterilize them, and have them do double duty.
The ceramic white rabbit sits inside an urn that is normally used outside, but has been brought inside for this special Spring arrangement. After its time inside, the urn will be returned to the outside porch where there is more space to keep large objects.
To create the ivy bed for the white rabbit, several small pots of ivy were used instead of one large ivy plant. This allows a large center stable space for the rabbit with the plants surrounding the rabbit instead of being underneath the rabbit.
A 12" plastic plant saucer sits inside the urn for two reasons. First, the plant saucer provides a level surface on which to place all of the ivy plants and the ceramic rabbit. Secondly, the plastic saucer catches dripping water from the ivy plants after they are watered.
To keep the rabbit from sitting too low among the ivy plants, an antique Chicago brick elevates the rabbit. By using an old brick with character, it does not detract from the arrangement if the brick peeks out between the ivy plants. Instead, the brick adds more interest.
When shopping this Spring, think about outdoor plant containers that can be used both inside and outside to create a white rabbit botanical centerpiece. . . for family gatherings, for book club meetings, for bridge club games, for pot-luck suppers with Bible class members, for teen-age gatherings,
or, for everyday joie de vivre in a French Country kitchen.
